Cookies and similar storage
Cookies are small values stored by your browser and sent with relevant website requests. Local storage, session storage and IndexedDB also keep data on your device, but work differently from cookies. We describe them together here so you can understand the full picture.
i2Speak does not require a login. The current keyboard does not create a server-processing session cookie for typing or exports. Clearing website storage does not delete files you have downloaded to your device.
Storage used by the keyboard
These are the first-party storage mechanisms used by the current keyboard. Storage is specific to the browser profile and device you are using.
| Storage item | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Appearance preference | Remembers light, dark or system appearance. | Until you change the choice or clear this site's browser data. |
| Text style preferences | Remembers font, size, color, formatting and text direction on this device. | Until replaced or removed by the relevant feature, cleared in your browser, or removed by the browser. |
| Browser draft | Keeps editor text locally for recovery. Draft content can include anything you type. It is not sent to a server draft account. | Until replaced or removed by the relevant feature, cleared in your browser, or removed by the browser. |
| Tab draft | Keeps an individual tab's draft separate from other open tabs. | For the tab session; browser session restoration can affect its lifetime. |
| Converter draft and keyboard recovery | Keeps the English passage, pronunciation edits and a recovery copy of the previous keyboard text in the current tab. Clear removes the converter draft; Restore previous text or Dismiss removes the keyboard recovery copy. | For the tab session, until removed by those controls. Browser session restoration can affect its lifetime. |
| Chart navigation state | Keeps your place and text selection when moving between IPA charts. | For the tab session, with a 30-second recovery window. Removed when the next keyboard page reads it. |
External services and cookies
Statcounter and Yandex Metrica provide page and usage analytics on the live website. Google AdSense serves automatic and placed advertisements. These integrations are not loaded in local previews.
These providers may set or read cookies and similar browser storage, and receive technical information such as IP addresses, browser and device information, page visits and usage data for analytics, ad delivery and measurement. Their own privacy practices apply. The local typing, conversion and export features do not require advertising cookies.
If you choose Search/Open, the selected Google, Bing, YouTube, Wikipedia or X service opens in a new tab with your text as the query. That destination may use its own cookies or storage, governed by its own terms and privacy practices. Merely typing in the editor does not trigger this external search.
Manage your choices
If browser storage is blocked or unavailable, preferences or draft recovery may not work. You can still type and use the local copy and export controls. Save important work separately.
- Use your browser settings to view, block or delete cookies and clear this site's data, including local storage and session storage. Choices are usually specific to that browser and device.
- Change the light, dark or system preference with the appearance control in the site header. Clearing site data also removes stored preferences and drafts.
- Export important text before clearing data. Other open tabs may still hold their own editor content, and clearing the editor is not a secure-erasure tool.
